My favourite drink

This is my second filler post during 30DWC. I was on deadline today, so any time for writing went out the window. It’s now 7.30pm, the project has gone to the client for review, and I fancy a drink. So I thought I’d share my favourite drink: an old fashioned.

There’s several ways to make an old fashioned but I like to keep it simple; none of that muddled fruit nonsense.

Here’s what you need:

  • Whisky (bourbon, rye, and scotch are all delicious)
  • 1tsp sugar syrup
  • Angostura Bitters
  • Orange Bitters (optional)
  • 1 orange
  • Maraschino cherry
  • Ice
  • Rocks glass

And here’s how you make it:

Add a teaspoon of sugar syrup to the rocks glass. Add two dashes of Angostura Bitters and two dashes of Orange Bitters. Stir. Fill the glass with ice, stir again. Stir slowly and take your time. Making it should be just as fun as drinking it. Add the whisky and stir again. Cut a piece of orange peel and bend over the glass to release the oils from the skin. Drop the orange peel into the drink. Finally, add a maraschino cherry to garnish.

Drink and enjoy. Cheers!
