How I’m using AI

I use writing as a tool to process my thinking. It’s how I explore concepts and ideas, learn new things, and attempt to understand the world around me. Whether I’m journalling, blogging, or taking notes, it’s the time in the chair that counts. I don’t want to outsource my thinking, so I don’t use AI to write for me.

I use AI as an editor. Once I have a solid draft, I’ll often use Grammarly to check spelling, correct grammar, and help spot flaws in my writing. I try to exercise caution when using AI to edit my writing. It’s tempting to take what it suggests verbatim since it can easily rewrite an entire post with a simple prompt. But doing so removes my voice. My writing isn’t perfect, but it is my writing.

I share the concern of many that AI is damaging the web.
